In Our Own Write: Creative Writing for LGBTQ Elders

Where: Virtual
When: Monday and Thursday evenings, June 12-Aug. 17, 2023

Join writer Erik Schuckers from the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Creativity for this FREE virtual workshop.

Through readings, guided writing prompts, and workshop discussions, learn how to share your experiences through poetry and short nonfiction.

We'll meet twice a week via the free Zoom platform to explore writing from memory, family and community, the body, and more, all from our unique perspectives as LGBTQ elders. Meetings will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m.

We'll read and discuss contemporary pieces, write and share our own original work, and have the chance to meet virtually with publishing writers.

At the end, you'll be able to share what you create through a collective reading and a limited edition chapbook to be distributed to all participants and archived in the University of Pittsburgh Library System.

This workshop is geared specifically toward those with little or no previous writing experience: beginners welcome! The only requirements are access to a computer and the desires to explore creative writing and connect with our community.
